YouTube
This tile opens YouTube’s TV (leanback) site in a kiosk browser window: big tiles, a d-pad, no desktop chrome. It is the fifth tile on the screenshot home screen.
Config
entries:
- title: YouTube
subtitle: TV
command: [firefox, --kiosk, https://www.youtube.com/tv]
restoreOnExit: false
--kiosk is a full-screen window with no address bar.
youtube.com/tv is the leanback UI meant for televisions.
restoreOnExit: false is recommended.
If Firefox is already running, firefox <url> often hands the address to that process and exits, which would otherwise bring the launcher straight back.
Chromium and Chrome accept the same idea:
command: [chromium-browser, --kiosk, --app=https://www.youtube.com/tv]
restoreOnExit: false
If Firefox is a Flatpak
command: [flatpak, run, org.mozilla.firefox, --kiosk, https://www.youtube.com/tv]
restoreOnExit: false
The Flathub id is org.mozilla.firefox.
Notes
-
The icon is looked up as
YouTube. -
Sign-in and cookies stay in the browser profile, not in BiscuitTin.
-
Hold Guide to return to the launcher without closing the browser.
-
To leave kiosk YouTube itself, quit the browser (for example kbd:[Alt+F4] or Firefox’s exit), or use the session’s usual close shortcut.
-
Output is appended to
~/.cache/biscuittin/youtube.log.
